The Library of this Institute was established in 1962 in the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) Campus and moved to a new campus at Narela in 2002. The library of the Institute of Applied Manpower Research – IAMR New Delhi has developed its collection in the form of documentary and electronic resources on manpower and allied subjects. The Library of this institute name as Knowledge Resources Centre (KRC) w.e.f 16th July, 2010, was approved in its Library Committee Meeting under Chairmanship of Dr. Santosh Mehrotra, Director-General, IAMR.
The total number of resources of the KRC is 26,500.The Institute of Applied Manpower Research – IAMR New Delhi Knowledge Resources Centre received approx 150 periodicals and newspapers, both national and international. The documents in the centre are classified according to Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme. The holdings of the Library can be accessed from OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) of the Institute through Libsys Software, which is Intranet based connectivity. The same bibliographical information about the resources may be accessed across the world through delnet website, as this institute is institutional member of the Delnet.
Research forms a core activity of the Institute of Applied Manpower Research – IAMR New Delhi and includes such efforts as developing methodologies for assessment of stock, forecasting demand for and supply of skills, analytical and theoretical studies on area specific, vocation-group specific, and sector-specific issues and issues relating to human resource development and use.
Institute of Applied Manpower Research – IAMR New Delhi regularly publishes research reports and seminar proceedings from its various seminars, workshops and conferences. The Institute publishes Manpower Profile India Yearbook which is widely regarded as the most definitive document on all aspects of human capacities covering population characteristics, manpower formation process, base for manpower utilization and utilization characteristics, economic returns from manpower utilization, labour market features, gender issues and international comparisons.
Institute of Applied Manpower Research – IAMR New Delhi journal titled, Manpower Journal, is a refereed journal published quarterly from IAMR since 1965. This journal provides a forum for the dissemination of information and research findings on different aspects of manpower, employment and related issues. Original research articles and research notes that fall within the scope of the journal are invited from scholars and practitioners. The Manpower Journal also publishes special issues from time to time. College offers Master and Diploma courses leading to management stream.
