Nitte Gulabi Shetty Memorial Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences - NGSMIPS Mangalore was established in 1983 with a view to provide job oriented professional courses in Pharmacy at the diploma, degree, postgraduate and doctoral levels. Initially, set up at the Nitte campus, Karkala, the college was later shifted to the NET”s Medical Sciences Complex, Deralakatte in August 1988 and then moved to Nanthoor, Mangalore in February 1999. On January 22, 2007, the NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences shifted to its new premises at Paneer, Mangalore.

All the courses are approved and recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi.
